At the start of the season in June, Sunderland owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus attended the Premier League meeting with all clubs owners who then told him that they would finish rock bottom. 🇮🇹🎙️ Aurelio De Laurentiis on how he bought Napoli: "I was in Los Angeles in 2004, shooting a film with several major actors. "At one point I felt I needed three weeks of summer vacation, so I went to Capri. When I arrived, someone handed me a newspaper and I read that a man was buying Napoli for €5 million. Buying Napoli? How? I asked and they told me: ‘Napoli no longer exists, they’ve gone bankrupt.’ "They asked if I wanted to buy it. I said: ‘Wait.’ After the bankruptcy, the club had to be auctioned. "My son Luigi and my wife Jacqueline said: ‘Are you crazy? You know nothing about football!’ But I’m a businessman, a new adventure, something fun. The federation told me I had to start from Serie C, not Serie A. It was a long journey in southern Italy. The beginning was terrible, I spent hours locked in dressing rooms because people wanted to attack me. "Napoli had never been in Serie C. It was very difficult, but for me it was like the best film of my life. It took us three years to get back to Serie A, but we did it. I was very proud, little by little I learned football, and we succeeded. We became the only team to play in European competitions for 15 consecutive years. Today, the relationship with the fans is fantastic." ... See MoreSee Less
