Following their crowning as Premier League champions, Manchester City will face Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday night. This momentous occasion signifies their fifth title in six years, a truly remarkable accomplishment for Pep Guardiola’s squad. With two cup finals scheduled for next month, the Sky Blues aim to secure a treble, further enhancing their season of triumph.

Guardiola will probably opt for a 3-2-4-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI for this contest. Ruben Dias will replace Manuel Akanji in the backline, while Erling Haaland leads the line from the start.

Defence

Stefan Ortega will continue in goal for Man City after keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory against Chelsea last weekend. Ayemric Laporte should continue alongside Kyle Walker to form a three-man backline with Ruben Dias, who replaces Manuel Akanji in the fray, as they look to keep the Seagulls at bay throughout the game.

Akanji will be named on the bench to provide cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Kalvin Phillips will continue alongside Rico Lewis as they operate in the central areas, trying to dominate the possession in the middle of the park and shield the back three in defence.

Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden will operate just ahead of them as they look to engineer enough chances for Man City to win this contest. Riyad Mahrez will operate in the right-wing position while Sergio Gomez starts again on the opposite flank; both will have to provide support from the wide areas and cut into the penalty box to create chances in front of the goal.

Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.

Attack

Erling Haaland will lead the line on the pitch’s attacking third. The Norway international will continue his rich run of form and fancy his chances of adding more goals to his incredible tally.
