In a recent report, Sport1 mentioned that Barcelona remain keen on recruiting Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are still keeping tabs on the France international.

Pavard’s Impressive Run Of Form In Bundesliga

Pavard is having a solid campaign at the German club as he has put in a series of impressive performances on the right side of their defence. The 27-year-old has scored seven goals and picked up one assist in 39 appearances for Bayern Munich this season across all competitions.

The French sensation deserves a lot of credit for averaging 2.4 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 2.5 clearances, 1.2 shots and 0.7 key passes per game in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 89.8% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Allianz Arena is set to run out in the summer of 2024. Thus, Barca have got a good chance of securing Pavard’s services for a cut-price fee in this off-season.

What Will Pavard Bring To Barcelona?

Pavard is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He usually clears the danger when needed and can even strike the ball with power from long range. Pavard is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a central defender if his manager asks him to do so.

The French talent is a good crosser of the ball and can engineer some promising chances for his teammates up top. However, he needs to make more runs on the right flank.

We can expect Pavard to bring more quality to Barcelona boss Xavi’s first XI. He has what it takes to earn a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp.

The France international has also got the experience to help the Catalan club challenge for some top honours over the next few years. At 27, Pavard is about to enter his prime and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Barcelona if Xavi can find a way to get a deal done for him in the summer.
