Real Madrid entertained Liverpool at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they focused on securing a good result at home in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie. Los Blancos made a decent start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Karim Benzema finally managed to break the deadlock in the 78th minute as the contest finished 1-0 in favour of Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player fared during the match against the Reds.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – 7.5/10

The Belgian keeper made a few solid saves at the back and earned a well-deserved clean sheet for Real Madrid at home.

RB: Dani Carvajal – 7/10

The Spaniard dealt with the danger when needed but offered very little going forward.

CB: Eder Militao – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back and performed well enough to secure the clean sheet.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10

Rudiger made a lot of important clearances at the back and made one key chance in the Liverpool half.

LB: Nacho – 7.5/10

The Spaniard gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and was lively on the ball as well.

CM: Luka Modric – 7/10

Modric was a class act at the centre of the park. He moved the ball well and dominated the opposition for major periods of the contest.

CM: Eduardo Camavinga – 7/10

He anchored the midfield with conviction and was a threat at the other end of the pitch.

CM: Toni Kroos – 7.5/10

Kroos was a positive influence at both ends of the field and was replaced in the 83rd minute.

RW: Federico Valverde – 7/10

He was a constant menace in the final third but didn’t do enough to register a goal.

ST: Karim Benzema – 8/10

Benzema caused a lot of headaches for the opposition defenders and got his name on the scoresheet with a good finish in the 78th minute.

LW: Vinicius Junior – 8/10

The Brazilian winger made a handful of excellent runs with the ball. Vinicius Jr. picked up an assist for setting up Benzema’s match-winner.

Ceballos hardly had any time to influence the game.
