Newcastle United locked horns with Manchester United at Wembley Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win in the Carabao Cup final. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 33rd minute when Casemiro found the back of the net. Sven Botman scored an unfortunate own goal just six minutes later as Eddie Howe’s men went into the half-time break 2-0 down on the scoreline.

The Tyneside outfit failed to mount a comeback in the second half and crashed to a disappointing 2-0 loss in the English capital.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the match against the Red Devils.

GK: Loris Karius – 7/10

Karius made a lot of solid saves at the back but still ended up conceding two goals in the first half.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 6.5/10

He had a tough game at the back but managed to engineer a few clear-cut chances in the final third.

CB: Fabian Schar – 6.5/10

Schar made a few crucial defensive contributions but it was not enough today.

CB: Sven Botman – 5.5/10

He scored an unfortunate own goal in the first half which proved costly for his team’s chances in the cup final.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 6.5/10

Guimaraes anchored the midfield well and managed to complete some encouraging dribbles from midfield.

CM: Joelinton – 7/10

He came back to defend when required and was a constant menace in front of the opponent’s goal.

RW: Miguel Almiron – 6/10

Almiron was quiet for most of the game but engineered one decent chance from the right flank.

ST: Callum Wilson – 6.5/10

He had a few lively moments in the final third but failed to find the back of the net.
