Manchester United and West Ham United will clash in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday as the Red Devils welcome them to Old Trafford. Man United secured a comfortable win in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United as they defeated them by a scoreline of 2-0 to lift the domestic trophy. Meanwhile, the Hammers recorded a splendid 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and will be in high spirits as they head into this contest.

Manchester United Vs Newcastle United: Talking Tactics

Erik ten Hag will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation and could make a couple of tweaks from the last game as Harry Maguire could be given the chance to impress in the defensive third while Wout Wegorst continues to lead the line up top.

David Moyes could set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation as well and is inclined to make a few changes to his first XI for this away encounter. Michail Antonio will probably get the nod to lead the line for the East London club on the attacking end of the pitch while Alphonse Areola replaces Lukasz Fabianski to operate in goal for his side.

Team News

Manchester United

Man United will be without the services of Christian Eriksen (ankle) and Donny van de Beek (knee) due to injuries, while Anthony Martial remains doubtful to recover in time for this Wednesday’s contest due to a hip problem. Apart from this the rest of the team remains fit and available for selection.

Manchester United Predicted Xi

West Ham United

As for the East London club, Kurt Zouma and Maxwel Cornet have returned to training following after recovering from their respective thigh and calf injuries, and Moyes will hope that they can return to the match-day squad soon. However, the West Ham boss has been handed fresh injury concerns with Vladimir Coufal (heel) and Lukasz Fabianski (eye socket) both being forced off in the last outing due to injury so they will be unlikely to feature on Wednesday.
