Manchester United will entertain Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as they try to secure another good result at home in the EFL Cup. The Red Devils managed to earn a 3-0 win away at Nottingham in the first leg and would be full of confidence going into this semifinal second-leg showdown in the Carabao Cup.

Erik ten Hag will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make some changes to his first team for this game. Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho will probably get a chance to play from the start while Marcus Rashford and Antony drop to the bench.

David de Gea will operate in between the sticks for the Red Devils after shipping in one goal in his last appearance. Lisandro Martinez will function alongside Raphael Varane at the heart of ten Hag’s defence as they hope to keep the opposition at bay in midweek.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could get a chance to impress at right-back while Luke Shaw hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward so that they can offer enough support to the front players.

Harry Maguire will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Fred and Casemiro will operate as the holding midfielders as they hope to dominate the game at the centre of the park and offer some decent service to their teammates up top.

The gifted trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Elanga will function just ahead of them as part of Man United’s attack. Fernandes will be the main playmaker for the Red Devils in the final third.

Facundo Pellistri and Antony will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they await their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if ten Hag opts to call upon their services.

Wout Weghorst will lead the line for the Mancunian giants on the attacking end of the field. The Dutch striker would be eager to produce a good display when he laces up to face off against the Nottingham defenders in midweek.

Marcus Rashford will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if Man United are in need of a goal by then.
