Chelsea’s progress in the Premier League this season has been far from smooth, with the reigning champions stumbling to defeats against the most unlikely opponents. Their last match against Crystal Palace saw them succumb to a shock defeat by 2-1 as the Blues went on to register their third loss of the season after their opening match against Burnley and their last match against Manchester City.
The Blues invested well during the summer transfer window and brought in a number of top-class players, especially to strengthen their attack. However, with the absence of their Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who picked up an injury during the match against Manchester City, the West London club has found it hard to score goals in recent outings and are in dire need of new attackers.
Michy Batshuayi has caught the eye of the team management with his timely strikes but lacks the quality to be used is the starting lineup, leaving Conte in search of a new addition.
One such player, who is eyed by Chelsea for the last few seasons, is the German youngster Julian Brandt. The 21-year-old is one of the most consistent players in the Bundesliga and currently plying his trade for Bayer Leverkusen. He is very highly rated by a number of experts and has been targeted by a number of big-name clubs including the current Premier League champions.
The Blues have been trying their best to sign him for some time now and could be making an offer for him during the next transfer window. However, the German sensation is a very important part of his current squad and Chelsea might have to work hard to get him to England.
The 21-year-old has already made 142 appearances for his current club and is looking in good form of late. Known for his ability to make darting down the flank and get into the opposition box from time to time, Brandt can be a good addition to the Blues’ squad. He also has the ability to chip in with goals and has scored 22 times for Bayer Leverkusen so far in his career.
Chelsea are well aware of the fact that they will need fresh legs in their side to add some pace and trickery to their lineup and Brandt can be their option in the attack. He has already made the headlines in his country with his prowess, which might add some much-needed flair to the Chelsea side who are desperate for it.
