Manchester United will face off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Saturday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Red Devils were held to a 3-3 draw by Galatasaray in midweek, so they would be eager to return to winning ways this weekend.
Erik ten Hag will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make a few changes to his first XI for this clash. Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to play from the start of this game.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Andre Onana will function in between the sticks for the Red Devils after conceding three goals in his last league outing. Victor Lindelof will operate alongside Harry Maguire at the centre of Man United’s defence as they try to keep the opposition at bay during the 90 minutes.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will fill in as the right-back while Luke Shaw hopes to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would be instructed to keep things solid on the defensive third of the pitch.
Diogo Dalot will offer cover for the right-back position on the bench.
Midfield
Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay will operate as the holding midfielders as they look to win the 50-50 duels at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will play just ahead of them as part of the Man United attack. All three of them need to link up with each other well so that Man United can create enough chances to win this contest at St. James’ Park.
Sofyan Amrabat will drop to the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Anthony Martial will lead the charge for the Mancunian club in the final third. He would be keen on getting his name on the scoresheet this weekend.
Rasmus Hojlund will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the latter stages if required.
