In a recent report, Gerard Romero on Jijantes FC mentioned that Barcelona are ready to move in for Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque. It is believed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move for the Brazilian striker.
Roque’s Impressive Run Of Form In Brazilian Football
Roque has caught the eye with his performances as the focal point of the Brazilian club’s attack. The 18-year-old has banged in eight goals and picked up four assists in 20 matches for his current employers this season on all fronts.
The Brazilian sensation has led the line well in the final third by averaging 1.9 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Brasileirao. However, he has been a bit sloppy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making only 67.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Barca to get him on board on a cut-price deal in this off-season.
Barcelona Are Ready To Move In For Roque: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Roque is proficient at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has also got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and can make some exciting runs with the ball on the attacking end of the field. Roque mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if needed.
However, the Brazilian talent is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in La Liga football.
Still, there is no denying that Roque has the potential to become a future star in European football. Hence, Barcelona boss Xavi would be wise to move in for him during this summer transfer window.
Roque is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future and has what it takes to be a star at the Nou Camp in the long run. However, Xavi will have to be patient with the youngster’s progress before he can get the best out of him at the Catalan club.
