The last two winners of the UEFA Champions League will lock horns on Wednesday as Real Madrid welcome Chelsea to Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of the UCL quarter-final. Los Blancos come into the match on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat at the hands of Villareal, so they will have to perform better in order to grab a win in this European contest.
Carlo Ancelotti will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation allowing Karim Benzema to lead the line. At the same time, Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde will provide support from the wide areas in the attacking third.
4-3-3 Real Madrid Predicted XI Vs Chelsea
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will function in between the sticks for Los Blancos after conceding three goals in his last outing. Antonio Rudiger will form a defensive partnership with Eder Militao at the heart of the Real Madrid backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Dani Carvajal will operate as the right-back while David Alaba looks to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would have to maintain a solid defensive shape at the back if they are to secure a clean sheet this weekend.
Nacho and Lucas Vazquez will be named on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and Luka Modric will make up Real Madrid’s midfield this midweek. The talented trio will look to dominate possession in the middle of the park and create enough chances in the final third.
Dani Ceballos and Aurelien Tchouameni could take a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Attack
Vinicius Junior will try to catch the eye on the left flank, while Federico Valverde hopes to give a good account of himself as the right-sided wide player.
Karim Benzema will lead the charge of the Madrid outfit on his own up top. The French sensation will be hungry to score more goals in this midweek encounter.
