In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona starlet Alejandro Balde is close to penning a new contract. It is believed that the Spanish sensation is set to pen a fresh deal that will keep him at the Catalan club until 2027.

Balde’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football This Season

Balde is enjoying an impressive season at the Nou Camp after producing a string of eye-catching performances on the left side of Barca‘s backline. The 19-year-old has secured six assists in 35 matches for the Catalan club during this campaign across multiple competitions.

The talented prospect has proven his worth on the left flank by averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession going forward, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 91.2% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract is set to run out in the summer of 2024. Thus, it makes sense for Barca to tie him down to a new deal soon.

Barcelona Left-Back Alejandro Balde Close To Signing A New Deal: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Balde is a good tackler of the ball and has got the energy to make life difficult for the opposition attackers. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can deliver some decent crosses into the opposition penalty box. Balde is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a right-back or as a winger on the left flank if his manager asks him to do so.

The Spanish sensation hardly gives away the ball cheaply but is still quite inexperienced at the highest level. Still, there is no denying that Balde has the potential to become one of the best full-backs in La Liga someday.

Thus, Barcelona will do well to tie him down to a new, long-term contract. Balde can also benefit from getting his long-term future sorted at the Nou Camp so that he can focus on getting better on the field.

At 19, the Spaniard’s ceiling is quite high, so he would have a great resale value in the future if Xavi can find a way to nurture him into a world-class footballer in the coming seasons.
