Paris Saint-Germain resume their rivalries with Bayern Munich as they head to Allianz Arena for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen. The French giants suffered a hard-fought 1-0 defeat at Parc des Prices in the first leg, so they will be eager to prove themselves in this crucial fixture on Wednesday night.
Christopher Galtier could opt for a 3-5-2 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the starting Xi for this away encounter. Marco Verratti could return to the match-day squad as Warren Zaire-Emery drops to the bench making way for him. Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi will form a two-man strike team to lead the charge against the Bundesliga giants.
3-5-2 Paris Saint-Germain Predicted XI Vs Bayern Munich
Defence
Gianluigi Donnarumma will operate in goal for PSG as he looks to keep a clean sheet after conceding two goals in his last Ligue 1 outing. Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos and Danilo Perreira will form the three-man backline as they try to keep the opposition attackers at bay throughout the game.
Presnel Kimpembe and Achraf Hakimi remain sidelined due to their respective injuries, so Galtier will be short of defensive options.
Midfield
Fabian Ruiz, Marco Veratti and Vitinha will operate as the central midfielders as they hope to dominate the game at the centre of the park and orchestrate some decent chances for their teammates to find the back of the net. All three of them also need to make sure that they provide enough protection for their teammates at the back.
Nordi Mukiele and Nuno Mendes will play on the right and left flank looking to stretch the opposition and tracking back on defence when the opposition is on the front foot.
Carlos Soler will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe will form a two-man strike team to lead the charge against the opposition. Both of them need to find a way to get in behind the Bayern defence at every chance they get and convert the chances in front of the goal to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Neymar remains in the treatment room following an ankle injury, so he will not be able to recover in time for this contest. On the other hand, Hugo Ekitike will be available on the bench and might come on to create an impact at the latter stages of the game if required.
