Real Madrid will take on Athletic Bilbao as they head to San Mames Barria on Sunday night looking to return to winning ways in La Liga. Los Blancos come into the match on the back of a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Villareal in the Copa Del Rey, unlike their last league outing against them where they suffered a disappointing defeat.
Carlos Ancelotti will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI. Luka Modric will play from the start in the central areas while Valverde features on the right flank as Rodrygo drops to the bench.
4-3-3 Real Madrid Predicted XI Vs Athletic Bilbao
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will continue to operate in between the sticks for the Spanish club after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Eder Militao will resume his defensive partnership with Antonio Rudiger at the heart of Real Madrid’s backline as they look to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.
Dani Carvajal remains a major doubt for this game so we could expect Nacho Fernandez to play as the right-back while Ferland Mendy hopes to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them could get the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Alvaro Odriozola will be available as he offers cover for the centre-back positions from the bench.
Midfield
Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camamvinga and Luka Modric will anchor the midfield for Real Madrid as they focus on dominating the game at the centre of the park and engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
Dani Ceballos will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Vinicius Junior will keep his place as the left-winger while Federico Valverde tries to make a difference from the right flank. Karim Benzema will lead the line for the Madrid outfit in the final third. The French striker will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net to get his name on the scoresheet this weekend.
Rodrygo and Eden Hazard will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the latter stages of the game if Carlo Ancelotti opts to call upon their services.
