In a recent report, Yorkshire Evening Post stated that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore. It has been mentioned that Spurs could face competition in the form of Leeds United in pursuit of the Spanish wide player who is on an expiring contract at Wolves.
Traore’s Unimpressive Season In English Football
The 26-year-old is having a tough campaign at the Molineux Stadium as he has struggled to find consistency with his performances for Wolves in the final third. Traore has scored two goals in 14 appearances for the West Midlands club this season in all competitions.
The Spaniard has proved his worth at times by averaging 0.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has struggled to be accurate with his ball distribution after making 73.1% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with Wolves will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Spurs are in with a good chance of landing Traore on the cheap this January or on a free transfer next summer.
What Will Adama Traore Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte’s Side?
Traore can use his electric pace to complete a few dangerous dribbles with the ball out on the wide areas. He can play a few decisive passes in the final third and can strike the ball with a lot of venom from long range. Traore is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if his manager asks him to do so. However, the Spanish sensation has been guilty of being inconsistent for most of his playing career which makes him a risky option for Spurs to consider in 2023.
We can expect Traore to add more pace and some goals to Tottenham boss Antonio Conte‘s attack. He would be a good option for Spurs to call upon off the bench and could help the North London club challenge for the domestic trophies over the next few years.
At 26, Traore’s best years are ahead of him as long as he is willing to put in the work on the training ground. Therefore, he could be a shrewd signing for Tottenham when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season. With all things considered, Spurs should think about offering him a contract next summer as he will definitely increase competition for places within their squad.
