In a recent report, Il Messaggero claimed that Aston Villa are open to hold talks to sign AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham. It has been mentioned that the Villans are keen on securing the English forward’s services next year.

Abraham’s Inconsistent Season In Italian Football This Season

The 25-year-old has experienced a difficult campaign at Stadio Olimpico after failing to be productive at times with his contributions on the attacking end of the pitch. Abraham has made 20 appearances for the Italian side this season, netting four goals and picking up two assists across multiple competitions.

The English centre-forward has done well to average 2.3 shots and 1.1 key passes per game in Serie A football. However, he needs to be more accurate when distributing possession in the final third after completing 74.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

The ex-Chelsea talent’s current deal with Roma is set to expire in the summer of 2026. Hence, the Villans might find it difficult to sign Abraham for a cut-price fee in January or at the end of this season.

What Will Abraham Bring To Aston Villa?

Abraham is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing at the top of his game on the field. The English sensation can even engineer some promising openings for his teammates up top. However, he has been far too unreliable with his offensive numbers of late.

Still, there is no doubt that Abraham is good enough to bring more firepower to Unai Emery’s attack at Villa Park. He has what it takes to offer some serious competition for Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins in the race to earn a regular starting spot at Aston Villa in the coming seasons.

Thus, the West Midlands club would be wise to bring the English forward back to Villa Park where he previously played some of his best football. He found the back of the net 26 times and secured three assists in 40 appearances for the Villans across all fronts. All in all, Abraham would be a decent option for Emery to consider next year as long as he can get him on the cheap as it won’t be a wise move for the Villans to pay a big fee for his services when he has been so inconsistent this season.
