According to a recent report from Football.London, it is stated that West Ham United have renewed the contract for Lukasz Fabianksi. It is mentioned that the shot-stopper will spend another year at the East London club after being offered a contract extension.
Fabianski’s Impressive Record For West Ham United Last Season
The Polish shot-stopper has produced some dominant displays between the sticks for the Hammers in the past couple of years. He has made 316 appearances for West Ham acquiring 81 clean sheets in the Premier League throughout his career.
He also managed to attain 8 clean sheets over 37 appearances featuring regularly on the goal under David Moyes. However, he does not fit the bill of a ball-playing goalkeeper as he barely managed to distribute the ball to his teammates, completing only 59.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football. What Does David Moyes Plan To Do With His Renewal?
Fabianski has been a key player for Moyes in the defensive department and he has performed consistently in between the sticks for the past couple of years. However, at 37 his physical abilities have seen a significant decline and he is way past his prime.
With the Hammers bringing in Alphonse Areola permanently, Moyes has made it clear that the 28-year-old will be doing the heavy lifting in the backline. Hence, it only leaves Fabianski with the option to play as a second fiddle to Areola, mostly appearing in the cup competitions for the next campaign. He could cover for the French shot-stopper coming off the bench in case of an injury setback.
The retired Poland international would be set to exit the London stadium after giving his services for another year.
