In a recent report from Football.london it was mentioned that West Ham United have denied selling their most prized asset Declan Rice after Chelsea showed significant interest in the midfielder. It was understood that the Hammers had set an asking price of £100 million which was deemed too steep for the English forward but the East London club have now gone forward to ask for £150million if he was to depart the London Stadium.

Rice’s Impressive Campaign For West Ham United Last Season

Rice had a solid campaign playing a key role for the Hammers in the last campaign. The 23-year-old has registered five goals and four assists over 50 matches for West Ham this season on all fronts.

The Thames-born sensation has been a consistent performer at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield after averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.7 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 91.6% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Rice Urged To Stay At West Ham United: Good Move From Moyes?

Rice has a solid presence being a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger quickly and stop the opposition attackers in their tracks. He is not afraid to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are looking to threaten his backline and can even make some clever interceptions to earn the ball back for his team.

The England international excels at playing his way out from the central areas of the pitch and proficiently distributing possession to his teammates. At 23, he can get better with each season and has been crucial to David Moyes’s playstyle at the East London club.

West Ham are wise to keep hold of him as his contract expires two years later. They also have the option to extend his contract for a year and they should definitely invoke that clause in the foreseeable future as he remains a key player for the side.
