In a recent report, Mirror stated that West Ham United have left Jesse Lingard, who is now a free agent, disappointed after the Hammers fell short in wage demands. It is understood that several other clubs are planning to make a bid for the playmaker in order to acquire his services before the next campaign, so the East London club would have to step up their efforts if they wish to reunite with him this summer.

Lingard’s Last Campaign In The Premier League

Jesse Lingard fell down in the pecking order after falling out of favour last season at Old Trafford. He only managed to score two goals over just 18 appearances for Ralph Ragnick’s side in the last campaign across all fronts.

The English talent’s failure to earn a regular spot explains why he only averaged 0.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.1 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was also able to make only 9.1 average passes per game with a pass success rate of 88.3% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Step Up His Efforts To Acquire Him?

Lingard excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on goal. He can even use his quickness to make some clever turns in the central areas of the pitch and make a few decent runs with the ball in the attacking end of the field. The English playmaker excels at creating some meaningful opportunities for his teammates in front of the goal.

However, he is only a decent finisher and has not been productive due to a bad run of form. The 29-year-old also needs to improve on his link-up play to be more effective in the attacking end.

Still, his strengths outweigh his weaknesses if he can recover from his slump of form over the coming months, so David Moyes should table a new bid for the English international in order to meet his wage demands even though he might have to make some sacrifices in the foreseeable future to balance the finances.
