Aston Villa entertained Southampton at Villa Park earlier today as they focused on collecting all three points at home. The Villans made a great start to the game and got their noses ahead in the ninth minute courtesy of Ollie Watkins’ brilliant finish. Douglas Luiz doubled the home team’s advantage just before the half-time break as the Villans led 2-0 at the midway point of the game.
Philippe Coutinho killed the game off in the 52nd minute before Danny Ings added another goal just two minutes later. Steven Gerrard’s men controlled the game well and cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory in front of their home fans.
