Spurs have faced a major blow with the news of striker Harry Kane being ruled out for at least two months with a serious ankle injury. The 23-year-old English international is all set to miss the next months with the injury he suffered against Sunderland on Sunday. This will be a major setback for the worldwide fan base of spurs as well as England manager Sam Allardyce as the 23-year-old remains a big doubt for England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Wembley on November 11.
Kane, who scored the only goal in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Sunderland on Sunday, was hurt making a tackle on Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji late in the game. He underwent two scans on Monday which revealed that there was no fracture but the Tottenham striker has suffered ligament damage. It looks like a grade two damage which normally rules out a player for at least six to eight weeks.
It is never a good sight to see a player getting carried off on a stretcher. The 23-year-old, who is the main man for both Spurs and England, left the Stadium on crutches, wearing a protective boot. Kane is an instrumental figure in Spurs’ side and in his absence, Spurs could potentially struggle for goals.
Kane’s injury leads a great opportunity for Spurs’ summer signing Vincent Janssen to make his mark at White Hart Lane. The 22-year-old topped the scoring charts in Eredivisie last season while playing for AZ Alkmaar and was snapped up by the Lilywhites this summer to ease some pressure off the shoulders of Kane. He has so far struggled for opportunities in the first-team and yet to score his first goal for the North London side. Now is his big chance to make a strong statement that he is much beyond just a backup for Kane.
