With just 4 points from the first 5 games, Sean Dyche’s Premier League run-in has not gotten off to a bright start. The fact that 3 of those points came in an unexpected fashion against Liverpool shows that they have failed to keep up the early momentum that the win could have given them. They have lost every alternative game this season which shows the lack of consistency in the squad. The manager did well to get in the number of players he did in the summer transfer window but there is a clear hole in the squad that still needs to be filled.

It might not be a single player that can fill that void, but one player who Burnley want to repair their squad with is West Brom outcast Stephane Sessegnon. The Benin international has gathered 6 years of Premier League experience in his time at the Stadium of Light and the Hawthorns but has not been able to extend his contract with the Baggies after the end of the previous season. He is currently a free agent and Burnley are reportedly one of the many teams that want to add him to their squad for the rest of the season. Coming in as a free transfer, the 32-year old is a player who can surely improve the Burnley side but is he the man that can save them from relegation?

Having gathered some form late last season for the Baggies, Sessegnon also picked up a couple of goals for his side and reports suggest that a majority of the West Brom fans wanted the club to sign him again this season. This shows the amount of importance the player has at the club. He rose into the spotlight in his time at PSG at a time when he was attracting a lot of interest from top Premier League sides.

His move to Sunderland and the Premier League was not a record breaking one but he was decent enough to earn a place in another Premier League squad. A sort of a specialist in dead-ball situations, the 32-year old is a natural dribbler who loves to have the ball at his feet. He is a striker/playmaker who will also drop deep to link up play with the midfield but he is at his best in an attacking position where he is a direct threat to the goal.

Burnley have taken 4 respectable points from the first 5 games but these games were evidence enough to suggest that they might have to battle late in the season for survival and this is where Sessegnon can be a bright purchase. Having gathered enough experience in the Premier League, the Benin international will add mettle to the Burnley attack.

The 32-year old can play in all three positions on the front line and his confidence with the ball might help the squad put on some gritty performances that get them over the line.

Burnley need to add some goals to their game, having scored just 3 goals in the first 5 games. There are a number of experienced free agents out still looking for clubs but Sessegnon will be one that Sean Dyche might regret not moving for. Do you think Stephane Sessegnon is a good addition to this Burnley squad?
