According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are monitoring Antony’s situation at Manchester United. If provided a chance, the Blues might attempt signing him in the upcoming transfer windows as they look to bolster the attacking unit.
Antony’s story so far
Antony came into the limelight during his impressive stint at Ajax. Poised with a bright future, Manchester United fancied a massive €95 million fee to sign him. While he showed promising signs in the initial phrases, he has fallen down the pack badly over the past couple of seasons.
The Brazilian primarily operates on the right wing and is known for his trickery. He holds great dribbling abilities, good passing range, and finishing skills. Though he sometimes makes irrational decisions in the final third, he is a quality player overall.
Antony has been provided with only 155 minutes on the field across five games this season so far. In those many minutes, he netted a goal and has not been influential. With Erik ten Hag gone already, his time at Old Trafford could come to an end too.
Antony should fancy Chelsea’s move
Chelsea are somewhat happy with Jadon Sancho whom they brought from Manchester United in the summer. Now with the uncertainty over the future of Mykhailo Mudryk, they are willing to sign another player from their rival in the form of Antony.
Antony’s declining role at Old Trafford is a matter of concern and with Erik ten Hag‘s departure, his future has become under the radar. If the new manager doesn’t count on him, the Red Devils will be ready to part ways with him as soon as possible.
Capitalizing on the situation, the Blues will attempt to sign him. His arrival can bring quality on the wings which they have been missing a bit. Though the Brazilian’s form can be questioned, he can rejuvenate his career under Enzo Maresca.
