In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona have reignited their interest in Monaco full-back Vanderson. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are prepared to revive their efforts to land the Brazilian full-back next year.
Vanderson’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1 This Season
Vanderson has enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club as he has put in a run of impressive performances on the right side of their defence. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in ten matches for AS Monaco this season across various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has been a solid presence when defending inside his half based on his average of 2.6 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per 90 minutes in the Ligue 1. He has even distributed possession relatively well from the right flank after making 79.3% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Monaco will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Catalan club to recruit him on a cut-price deal next year.
What Will Vanderson Bring To Barcelona?
Vanderson loves a tackle and can make life tough for the opposition when defending inside his half. He can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his side on the defensive end of the field. The Brazilian talent usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. He mainly operates as a right-back but can also play as a right-sided wide player if needed.
Vanderson would bring more quality and depth to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp in the coming years.
At 23, Vanderson has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan giants to consider in 2025. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football.
With all things considered, Barcelona would be wise to go all out to get a deal over the line for Vanderson when the transfer window reopens this January or at the end of this season.
