In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Barcelona are keeping tabs on River Plate attacker Franco Mastantuono. It is believed that the Catalan club would face competition from Manchester United in pursuit of the Argentine talent.
Mastantuono’s Impressive Rise In Argentine Football
The 17-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Rival Plate and has already managed to establish himself as a first-team starter for them. Mastantuono has already featured in 28 senior matches for the Argentine club thus far, scoring three times and earning a couple of assists in all competitions.
The Argentine youngster has caught the eye at times with his performances in Argentine football. He is currently amongst the best young players in South America, so Barcelona would do well to win the race for his services.
His current contract at River Plate will run out at the end of 2026 which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap next year.
Barcelona Are Keeping Tabs On Mastantuono: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Mastantuono can strike the ball with power and precision from long range. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. However, the Argentine talent is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, there is no denying that he has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday.
Mastantuono is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. We can expect him to bring more quality to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s attack.
Mastantuono has what it takes to be a success story at the Nou Camp in the long run. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, the Catalan club would be wise to go all out to bring Mastantuono to Spain when the transfer window reopens at the start of next year. However, Flick has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the youngster.
