In a recent report, Cadena SER claimed that Real Madrid are in advanced talks to land Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the Canada international in the summer.
Davies’ Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Davies has put in a run of impressive displays for the Bavarian club on the left flank and has done well to register one goal and pick up three assists in 28 appearances for the German outfit this season on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has been a good performer on the left wing as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.5 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after making 89.5% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Arena will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Is Davies A Decent Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Canada international is a great dribbler with the ball as well and has got the pace to get in behind the opponent’s defence. He is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left-sided wide player if told to do so.
Davies will add more quality and depth to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s backline. He would be a significant upgrade over Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.
At 23, Davies has got his best years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for Los Blancos to consider for the long run. However, it remains to be seen whether the Canadian sensation can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football if Ancelotti can devise a way to bring him to the Bernabeu in the upcoming transfer window.
