Even after the closure of the January window, Real Madrid‘s management are having a tight schedule as they keep an eye on the available players. The biggest is Kylian Mbappe, who has officially announced his decision to leave PSG in the summer and is likely to arrive at his dream club.
Meanwhile, the Whites are close to another mouth-watering deal as they have reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies, according to Spanish journalist Alfredo Matilla. The Bayern Munich defender has agreed personal terms with the club and can arrive ahead of the next season.
Alphonso Davies is a reliable name
Alphonso Davies is one of the most reliable fullbacks in the football world today. He started his career as a promising winger, and got to play in the left-back position under Hansi Flick. Since then, he has only looked up and solidified his position in the club as well as the country.
The Canadian defender has featured in 27 games this season so far, netting a goal and providing three assists. He is averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, and 1.2 clearances per game. He has played in multiple positions and excelled in almost of all, proving his versatility (stats via whoscored).
The 23-year-old has 18 months left in his contract with Bayern Munich. However, the contract extension talks hasn’t been fruitful between both parties yet. Davies is willing to move out of the club if he gets a prominent role in an exciting project.
Real Madrid won’t have Alphonso Davies easily
Real Madrid have retained their interest in acquiring Alphonso Davies and are serious about it. The reason is the inconsistency of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, who are yet to prove themselves at the highest level. Hence, they desperately need a world-class full-back.
However, the signing won’t be easy for Los Blancos as Chelsea are also heavily interested in signing Davies. They have spent heavily to bolster their squad in the past two seasons and won’t shy away from spending a big sum yet again. Even Bayern Munich will try to retain the star defender or cash in a big amount.
