Liverpool entertained Aston Villa at Anfield earlier today as they looked to secure a win at home in the Premier League. The Reds made a slow start to the game and conceded a penalty in the first half which Ollie Watkins ended up missing. However, Jacob Ramsey gave the Villans the lead in the 27th minute with a composed finish. Jurgen Klopp‘s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

Roberto Firmino came off the bench and scored the all-important equaliser for Liverpool in the 89th minute as the contest finished 1-1 with the two teams sharing the points.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the clash against the Villans.

GK: Alisson Becker – 6.5/10

The Brazilian keeper made a couple of solid saves at the back but will be disappointed after conceding a goal midway through the first half.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.5/10

He was far from convincing when defending inside his half but passed the ball at times from midfield.

CB: Ibrahima Konate – 6/10

Konate gave away a cheap penalty in the first half which went unpunished. He came back and produced a dominant display in the second half.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 7/10

The Dutch talent earned the ball back twice and made a lot of important clearances at the back.

LB: Andrew Robertson – 6/10

Robertson was slow to react to the danger and struggled to be a threat in the opponent’s half.

CM: Curtis Jones – 6.5/10

He made two positive runs with the ball but lacked quality in the final third.

CM: Fabinho – 6.5/10

The Brazilian talent anchored the midfield well at times and made one key chance in the Aston Villa half.

CM: Jordan Henderson – 6/10

The Liverpool captain struggled to get into the flow of the game and was replaced in the 71st minute.

RW: Mohamed Salah – 7/10

Salah caused all sorts of problems for his marker and did well to pick up an assist for setting up Firmino’s later equaliser.

ST: Cody Gakpo – 7/10

He was strong on the ball and made some powerful runs in and around the opponent’s penalty box.

LW: Luis Diaz – 6.5/10

Diaz made one dangerous run with the ball on the left flank but was toothless in front of the opposition’s goal.

Substitutes:

ST: Diogo Jota – 6/10

Jota was underwhelming in the final third.

CM: James Milner – 6/10

He added some experience to Klopp’s midfield.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas – 6.5/10

Tsimikas made one positive run with the ball.

ST: Roberto Firmino – 7.5/10

Firmino made an instant impact off the bench and scored the all-important equaliser which will go down as his last goal for Liverpool at Anfield.

CM: Harvey Elliott – N/A

He hardly had any time to influence the game.
