Manchester City faced off against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they focused on earning a positive result in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. Pep Guardiola‘s men made a decent start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 36th minute when Vininicus Jr. found the back of the net with a great strike. Man City were trailing 1-0 at the half-time interval.

Kevin De Bruyne managed to net the all-important equaliser for the visitors as he scored with a terrific strike in the 67th minute. The contest ended with Man City earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw on their travels.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player performed during the match against Los Blancos.

GK: Ederson – 6.5/10

The Brazilian keeper made a few solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet tonight.

CB: Kyle Walker – 7/10

The English defender gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field.

CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10

He dealt with the danger when required and performed well enough to restrict the opposition to just one goal.

CB: Manuel Akanji – 6.5/10

Akanji was a solid presence inside his half and was tidy with his passing.

CM: John Stones – 6/10

He struggled to get a foothold in the game and did well to last the whole 90 minutes.

CM: Rodri – 7/10

The Spaniard was a positive influence at both ends of the field and was not shy of having a strike at goal.

RW: Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10

He made a few decent runs with the ball but failed to threaten the Real Madrid goal.

CAM: Kevin De Bruyne – 8/10

De Bruyne scored Man City’s equaliser with a stunning strike in the 67th minute. He just about deserves the man of the match award.

CAM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7/10

He caused a few problems for the opposition defenders and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

LW: Jack Grealish – 7.5/10

Grealish completed a couple of energetic dribbles on the left flank and managed to create multiple chances for others around him in the final third.

ST: Erling Haaland – 6.5/10

The Norway international worked hard and caused some headaches for the Real Madrid centre-backs. However, there was no goal for him tonight.
