Aston Villa will take on Newcastle United as they welcome them to Villa Park on Saturday, hoping to take all three points from this contest. The Villans come into the match on the back of a 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, so they will be confident of grabbing the win in this upcoming encounter.

Unai Emery should probably opt for the 4-4-2 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI for this contest. Bertrand Traore is pushing for a start after getting his name on the scoresheet last weekend, while Leon Bailey has picked up a thigh problem, so Emery might give Traore the opportunity to lead the line.

Defence

Emiliano Martinez will continue to function in goal for the Villans after keeping a clean sheet in his last outing. Tyrone Mings will resume his centre-back partnership with Ezri Konsa at the heart of Villa’s defence as they try to keep the opposition at bay throughout the game.

Ashley Young will continue to operate as the right-back, while Alex Moreno proves his worth on the other side as the left-back. Emery will ask both of them to defend their penalty box well and try to create some decent chances going forward.

Lucas Digne will offer cover for the defensive positions as they take a spot on the bench.

Midfield

Douglas Luiz will anchor the midfield alongside John McGinn as they focus on dominating the midfield battle and creating some inviting chances for their teammates up top.

Emi Buendia will carry most of the creative burden for the West Midlands club on the left flank. Jacob Ramsey will try to give a good account of himself as a right-sided wide player. Both of them will need be providing support from the wide areas.

Boubacar Kamara remains sidelined due to their injuries, so the West Midlands club remains short on options in the midfield department.

Attack

Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore will form a two-man strike team to lead the charge against the opposition on the attacking end of the field. Both of them would be eager to find the back of the net when they lace up to face off against the Newcastle defenders this weekend.
