Rangers returned to action this weekend for the final lap of the campaign. They hosted bottom-placed Dundee United at Ibrox and faced little threat en route to clinching a routine 2-0 win, thanks to a brace from Malik Tillman.
Below are the Rangers players rated in their 2-0 win against Dundee United.
Allan McGregor: 7.5
Made some routine saves to grab a clean sheet on his 500th Gers appearance between the sticks.
James Tavernier: 7.5
Was lively down the right-hand flank with his trademark runs, crosses, cut insides and attacking threats. Made timely defensive contributions to nullify the visitors’ threats. Was taken off for Scott Wright midway through the second half.
Connor Goldson: 8
Dominated the duels, and played some exquisite passes including one in the build-up of Tillman’s opening goal.
Ben Davies: 8
Was in the right place at the right time while partnering with Goldson in the heart of the backline. Those recoveries, clearances and the ball-playing attribute depicted his composure and calmness.
Borna Barisic: 7.5
Shook off an early head injury and completed the game. Whipped in crosses from the left-hand side, played some passes into the final third and also created chances for fellow attackers.
Ryan Jack: 8
Orchestrated the show from his deep-lying midfield role. Carried the ball forward from the deep and operated in the advanced areas of the pitch. Made way for John Souttar in the closing minutes.
John Lundstram: 7.5
Lost the majority of duels, but he made quick recoveries, interceptions and clearances. Much better from the Englishman after a few underwhelming outings.
Todd Cantwell: 8.5
Set it up for Tillman at the back end of the first half. Was denied by Mark Birighitti in the Tangerines’ goal, however, he posed a constant threat in and around the attacking third. Was replaced by Scott Arfield in the closing minutes of the contest.
Malik Tillman: 9
Has been majestic all season as a ‘number 10’ and he showcased his excellence once again by scoring twice this afternoon. Received massive plaudits from the supporters while making way for Antonio Colak with a few minutes remaining.
Ryan Kent: 8.5
Came close to finding the net time and again, but he could not keep his efforts on target. That did not stop him from making an impact as he kept the United defence on its toes. Assisted Tillman minutes after the break and his flair and finesse created an array of chances high up the pitch.
Alfredo Morelos: 6.5
Forced Birighitti to make a save but the Colombian failed to leave his mark before leaving the pitch in the second half. Fashion Sakala was introduced in his place with 20 minutes left.
