Trippier Gets 8.5, Willock With 8 | Newcastle United Players Rated In Impressive Win Vs Manchester United

Newcastle United entertained Manchester United at St. James’ Park earlier this evening as they hoped to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a decent start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

The Tyneside club finally took the lead in the 65th minute when Joe Willock scored from close range. Callum Wilson made the points secure for Newcastle by finding the back of the net in the 88th minute. The match ended with the Magpies earning an impressive 2-0 win in front of their home supporters.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against Man United.

GK: Nick Pope – 7/10

He had to make just one save in the game and secured an easy clean sheet at home.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 8.5/10

The English right-back performed his defensive duties well and engineered some inviting chances from the right flank. He has got an assist to show for his efforts.

CB: Fabian Schar – 7/10

He did his fair share of defending and was a real threat at the other end of the pitch as well.

CB: Sven Botman – 7/10

Botman earned the ball back a few times and was a dominant presence in the air.

LB: Dan Burn – 7/10

He got stuck in with a lot of crunching tackles and orchestrated one good chance in the final third.

CM: Sean Longstaff – 7/10

Longstaff was not shy of making a tackle and had a couple of strikes at goal.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7.5/10

The Brazilian sensation anchored the midfield with conviction and was a lively presence on the ball.

CM: Joe Willock – 8/10

Willock opened the goal-scoring for Newcastle United in the 65th minute. He even came back to defend when needed.

RW: Jacob Murphy – 6.5/10

He engineered a few decent chances in the opponent’s half and was replaced in the 67th minute.

ST: Alexander Isak – 7/10

Isak caused a few headaches for the Man United defenders but there was no goal for him this evening.

LW: Allan Saint-Maximin – 8/10

Saint-Maximin caused all kinds of problems for his marker and was excellent with his link-up play but has got nothing to show for his efforts.


CM: Joelinton – 7/10

He added more energy to Newcastle’s midfield.

RW: Anthony Gordon – 6.5/10

Gordon made one good run with the ball.

ST: Callum Wilson – 7/10

He came off the bench and scored Newcastle’s second goal late in the game.

CM: Elliot Anderson – N/A

Anderson had a couple of lively moments in the final third.
