Chelsea face a daunting challenge in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final as they host reigning European champions Real Madrid on Tuesday night. The Blues need to win by a margin of three goals at Stamford Bridge, as Los Blancos already have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite Frank Lampard’s return to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are struggling to find their form, and now they face a tough task to overturn the deficit against the Spanish giants.

Chelsea Vs Real Madrid: Talking Tactics

Frank Lampard will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to name a strong first XI for this game. Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz could be recalled to play from the start for the West London club in this European contest.

Carlo Ancelotti will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few changes to the first XI for this game. Vinicius Junior will return to the frontline for this contest, while Marco Asensio drops to the bench.

Team News

Chelsea

After being reduced to 10 men in the first leg due to Ben Chilwell’s straight red card for a last-man foul on Rodrygo, Chelsea will have to play without him. Meanwhile, Kalidou Koulibaly, who suffered a hamstring problem, will be out for a few weeks, joining Armando Broja, who has a knee injury, on the sidelines. Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante were rested during the match against Brighton, and Reece James, Joao Felix, and Mateo Kovacic are expected to make a return to the squad.

Chelsea Predicted XI

Kepa; James, Fofana, Silva, Cucurella; E. Fernandez, Kante, Kovacic; Mudryk, Havertz, Felix

Real Madrid

Ancelotti had to contend with a couple of absentees in the last league game due to minor injuries. Vinicius Junior, Toni Kroos, and Ferland Mendy were all unavailable due to muscular overload and a calf problem. Mendy is still not fit enough to return, but Kroos and Vinicius are expected to feature in the match. Therefore, it is likely that Marco Asensio, who has recently been in good form, will be relegated to the bench.

Real Madrid Predicted XI

Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Camavinga; Modric, Valverde, Kroos; Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius Jr
