According to a report from Football.London, Chelsea boss Graham Potter is facing tough questions regarding his future at Stamford Bridge after the Blues recorded their fifth winless streak after a disappointing loss against Southampton in the Premier League. Having spent £300m in the January transfer window, the West London club have faltered even further as they sit nine points away from the top four places in the League table.
Can Potter Help Chelsea With A Mid-Season Revival To A Top Four Finish?
Graham Potter has won just nine of his opening 25 games being in charge of the Blues, which poses questions over whether he can help them secure a Champions League place at the end of this season. Recently, the West London club lost to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 and also extended their winless streak after losing to Southampton in the Premier League which saw them placed in a seemingly underwhelming tenth position in the League table.
As pressure mounts upon Potter, he can only hope that the arrival of Joao Felix, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Noni Madueke can help revive Chelsea’s performances in the English first division.
Will Potter Remain In Charge In the Foreseeable Future?
The Blues’ owner Todd Boehly, upon appointing Potter, had said to the club’s official website: “We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club.”
Although he hasn’t given a comment on Potter’s immediate future at Stamford Bridge, it is believed that Boehly will back him in the foreseeable future as the Chelsea manager’s vision for the club aligns with its owners.
The former Brighton boss has often been criticised for his seemingly negative post-match press conferences which could be a result of his frustration with the recent performances. Whether Potter can keep his place at Stamford Bridge solely depends upon how they fare at the end of this season, so it is needless to say that the Blues will need to find their form and that too at a fast pace.
