Chelsea welcomed Southampton at Stamford Bridge earlier today as they focused on collecting maximum points in front of their home fans. The Blues made a decent start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the first-half stoppage time when James Ward-Prowse found the back of the net for the Saints. Graham Potter’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.

The West London club failed to mount a comeback and crashed to a poor 1-0 defeat in the English capital.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the match against the Saints.

GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6.5/10

The Spanish keeper made a few important saves at the back but won’t be happy after shipping in a goal just before the half-time interval.

RB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 6.5/10

He did his fair share of defending and made one good chance from the right flank.

CB: Kalidou Koulibaly – 6.5/10

Koulibaly kept things solid at the back for most of the first half and was replaced at half-time.

CB: Badia Badiashile – 7/10

He was a dominant presence in the air and didn’t do much wrong at the back.

LB: Ben Chilwell – 6/10

Chilwell was far from convincing at the back and offered very little going forward.

CM: Mateo Kovacic – 6.5/10

He had a lively game in the Southampton half but failed to find the back of the net.

CM: Enzo Fernandez – 7/10

The Argentina international anchored the midfield with conviction and made two decent runs with the ball from midfield.

RW: Noni Madueke – 6.5/10

He had a few bright moments on the right flank but was replaced after the hour mark.

CAM: Joao Felix – 6/10

Felix wasted a few inviting chances to score and produced a lackluster display in the final third.

LW: Mason Mount – 5.5/10

The English sensation was quiet for most of the game and did well to last 63 minutes.

ST: David Datro Fofana – 6.5/10

He caused a few problems for the opposition defenders in the first half but got substituted at half-time.

Substitutes:

CB: Wesley Fofana – 6/10

Fofana was solid at the back.

ST: Raheem Sterling – 6.5/10

He showed some signs of life after coming off the bench.

ST: Kai Havertz – 6/10

Havertz failed to get his name on the scoresheet.

LW: Mykhailo Mudryk – 6/10

Mudryk offered very little after coming on as a substitute.

CB: Trevoh Chalobah – N/A

He hardly had any time to make an impact.

CM: Conor Gallagher – N/A

Gallagher came on for the final few moments of the game.
