Newcastle United entertained West Ham United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the third-minute courtesy of Callum Wilson’s goal. Lucas Paqueta equalised for West Ham in the 32nd minute as the two sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

The Magpies pushed on in search of the winning goal but had to settle for a 1-1 draw in front of their home fans.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the match against the Hammers.

GK: Nick Pope – 6/10

Pope didn’t have a save to make in the game and will be disappointed after conceding a goal in the 32nd minute.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 7/10

He cleared the danger when needed and engineered some decent chances from the right flank.

CB: Fabian Schar – 7/10

Schar gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and won his fair share of aerial duels.

CB: Sven Botman – 7/10

He made a lot of important defensive contributions at the back and was accurate with his passing.

LB: Dan Burn – 7.5/10

Burn was a dominant presence in the air and was good on the ball as well.

CM: Joe Willock – 6/10

He offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and made one good run with the ball.

CM: Sean Longstaff – 7/10

Longstaff worked hard and had a couple of lively moments in the West Ham half. He picked up an assist for setting up Wilson’s goal early in the game.

CM: Joelinton – 6.5/10

He came back to defend when needed and made two decent runs with the ball.

RW: Miguel Almiron – 6/10

Almiron struggled to get into the flow of the game and produced a toothless display on the right flank.

ST: Callum Wilson – 7/10

Wilson was a real threat up top and got his name on the scoresheet in the third minute.

LW: Allan Saint-Maximin – 6.5/10

He made some solid tackles and had a couple of bright moments in the final third.

Substitutes:

RW: Anthony Gordon – 6/10

Gordon offered very little after coming off the bench.

LW: Jacob Murphy – N/A

He hardly had any time to make an impact after coming off the bench.

CM: Elliot Anderson – N/A

He added some energy to Howe’s midfield after coming on in the 80th minute.
