Newcastle United locked horns with Sheffield Wednesday at the Hillsborough Stadium earlier today as they looked to secure a positive result on the road. The Magpies made a solid start to the game and managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

Josh Windass scored a quick-fire brace in the second half which put Newcastle in a world of trouble. The Magpies got a goal back via Bruno Guimaraes’ effort in the 69th minute. However, Eddie Howe’s men failed to make a comeback and suffered a poor 2-1 defeat away from home in the FA Cup.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against Sheffield Wednesday.

GK: Martin Dubravka – 6/10

He made a couple of crucial saves at the back but won’t be happy after shipping in a couple of goals early in the second half.

RB: Javier Manquillo – 6.5/10

Manquillo made one crucial clearance at the back and had a lively game in the opponent’s half.

CB: Jamaal Lascelles – 7/10

He gave a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch and was a strong presence in the air.

CB: Sven Botman – 6.5/10

Botman made a couple of important defensive contributions and was a threat at the other end of the field as well.
