Atletico Madrid will welcome Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday night as both sides look to go all out in search of the three points in La Liga. The Madrid outfit managed to secure a 2-0 win away at Oviedo recently. Similarly, Barca secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory against Intercity earlier this month. Hence, we can expect both sides to be confident about their chances of success this weekend.

Atletico Madrid Vs Barcelona: Talking Tactics

Atletico boss Diego Simeone will set his players up in a 5-3-2 formation and is expected to ask them to keep a solid defensive shape at the back and try to catch the opposition off-guard on the counter.

Barca head coach Xavi will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could instruct his men to dominate the flow of the game and engineer enough clear-cut chances to win this contest.

Sergio Reguilon and Mario Hermoso are both major doubts for this game due to injuries. However, Steven Savic should be available for a place on Simeone’s first XI.

Xavi has no fresh injury concerns to cope with ahead of this weekend’s clash away at Atletico Madrid. However, both Robert Lewandowski and Jordi Alba are suspended for this game.

Barcelona Predicted XI

Ter Stegen; Kounde, Araujo, Christensen, Balde; Pedri, Busquets, F de Jong; Dembele, F Torres, Fati

Key Men

Atletico Madrid

Antoine Griezmann will be given the responsibility to carry most of the creative workload in the Barcelona half. Both Jan Oblak and Alvaro Morata need to have a good game if the home team are to have any chance of securing a win in front of their home fans.

Both Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen have to defend their penalty box well if Xavi wants his team to earn a clean sheet this weekend.

All eyes will be on Ferran Torres, who is expected to lead the line for the Catalan club in the absence of Robert Lewandowski.
