In a recent report from Express Daily, it was mentioned that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice will not be pursued by Manchester United after last weekend’s encounter with the Red Devils. It was understood that Rice remained a priority target for Man United for quite a while but they have backed out on acquiring him next summer.
Rice’s Run Of Form With West Ham United
Declan Rice has managed to return to form after a slow start to this campaign. He has been putting a few influential displays in the centre of the park. He has found the back of the net on one occasion and created two assists over 13 appearances so far this season. Although he has not been an offensive threat in the attacking third, he has been a defensive powerhouse for the Hammers this season.
The Thames-born sensation has performed exceptionally in the defensive half after averaging 2.6 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, and 1.3 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution completing 90.8% of his attempted passes in the English top flight. (stats via whoscored).
Man United Backing Off A Good News For Moyes?
Rice can make some strong challenges to win the ball back for the Hammers and he is a decent passer who can create a few inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. The England international has a solid presence in the central areas of the field, being a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger quickly and stop the opposition attackers in their tracks which makes him a key member at the East London club.
With the English midfield ace acquiring attention more gradually from various clubs, it is very much possible for him to exit London Stadium next summer as he could certainly take the next big step in his career. However, that would deal a huge blow to West Ham as his contract expires next season, so if he doesn’t agree to an extension they could end up losing him for less than they are asking. Although, with Manchester United going out of contention, it gives Moyes one less club to be troubled for.
