West Ham United locked horns with Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier today as they hoped to grind out a good result on their travels in the Premier League. The Hammers made a solid start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 38th minute when Marcus Rashford scored with a great header. The East London club went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
David Moyes’ men tried to come up with a response in the second 45 minutes but ended up crashing to a 1-0 defeat at the Theatre of Dreams.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player performed during the match against the Red Devils.
GK: Łukasz Fabiański – 6/10
The Polish keeper should have done better to prevent Marcus Rashford’s goal.
RB: Thilo Kehrer – 6.5/10
Kehrer gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and made one good run with the ball in the Man United half.
CB: Craig Dawson – 6/10
He made a few crucial clearances at the back but could have passed the ball a bit better out from the back.
CB: Kurt Zouma – 6.5/10
The French centre-back cleared his lines when needed but will be disappointed after conceding a goal late in the first half.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 6/10
He did his fair share of defending and made one good chance in the final third. However, Cresswell was a bit wasteful with his crossing from the left flank.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 6.5/10
Soucek anchored the midfield with conviction but offered very little in the opponent’s half.
CM: Declan Rice – 7/10
The England international earned the ball twice and had a few lively moments on the attacking end of the field.
RW: Jarrod Bowen – 6/10
Bowen threatened the opposition goal a couple of times but failed to register a goal.
CAM: Flynn Downes – 6/10
He made one key chance in the final third but had a quiet game during his time on the field.
LW: Said Benrahma – 7/10
Benrahma showed a few flashes of what he is capable of but was toothless in front of the Man United goal.
ST: Gianluca Scamacca – 6/10
Scamacca failed to cause problems for the opposition defenders and was replaced just before the hour mark.
GK: Alphonse Areola – 6.5/10
Areola kept a clean sheet in the second half.
ST: Michail Antonio – 6/10
He added some pace to David Moyes’ attack.
CAM: Pablo Fornals – 6/10
The Spaniard made one key chance in the final third.
