In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Leeds United are showing interest in Birmingham City starlet George Hall. O’Rourke said,
“I think Hall is a very highly-rated player. He’s already got good experience playing for Birmingham in the Championship.
“Leeds obviously see him as a potential star in the making. That’s why they’re making moves to try and sign him.”
Hall’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football
The 18-year-old has experienced a solid campaign at Birmingham as he has managed to catch the eye by putting in a couple of impressive displays at the centre of the park. Hall has participated in 17 senior matches for the West Midlands club this season, finding the back of the net and earning one assist in multiple competitions.
The Redditch-born talent has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.5 tackles, 0.3 shots, 0.2 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has also been a bit untidy with his passing after completing 67.8% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Is George Hall A Prospect To Watch Out For In The Future?
Hall is a bright young prospect, who primarily functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if his manager asks him to do so. He can get stuck in with some solid tackles and is quite clever when making runs toward the opponent’s penalty box.
The English teenager can score the odd goal in the final third and has got the vision to unlock the opponent’s defence with a killer pass. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life in top-flight football if the Whites manage to get him on board in the future.
We can expect Hall to grow into a top player at Elland Road as long as Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch is willing to be patient with his progress in the coming seasons. At the moment, Hall might struggle to get any game time at the West Yorkshire club but he has got the potential to become a future star in English football someday.
There is no denying that the Birmingham City starlet is a prospect to watch out for as long as he continues to develop his game with each year.
