The FIFA World Cup 2022 is about to be held in Qatar later this year with 32 nations going all out in the hopes of fulfilling their dreams of securing the biggest prize in world football.
The tournament is about to kick off on 20 November 2022 and will conclude on 18 December 2022. There will be eight stadiums that will be used in Qatar for this year’s World Cup.
World Cup Stadiums In Qatar
Al Bayt Stadium
The opening match of the competition will be held in this Stadium which has a capacity of 60,000. It is situated in Al Khor City which is 35km north of central Doha.
The Al Bayt Stadium will host five group-stage matches (including the opening game), one Round of 16 clashes, one quarter-final game, and one semi-final game of the World Cup.
Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
It is located at Al Rayyan which is 20km west of central Doha. The stadium can hold a total of 40,000 spectators and will host five group stage matches and one Round of 16 game.
Al Janoub Stadium
It has a capacity of 40,000 and is located in Al Wakrah, which can be found 22km east of central Doha. It will host five group stage games and one Round of 16 clash.
Al Thumama Stadium
The stadium can hold up to 40,000 spectators and is situated 12km south of central Doha. It will host five group stage games, one Round of 16 match, and one quarter-final clash of the FIFA World Cup.
Education City Stadium
The venue can accommodate 40,000 spectators as well and is located 13km northwest of central Doha. It will host five group stage matches, one Round of 16 contest, and one quarter-final match of the tournament.
Khalifa International Stadium
Its capacity is 40,000 spectators and can be found in Al Rayyan, 5km west of central Doha. The stadium will host five group matches, one round of 16 game, and the bronze medal game as well in the World Cup.
Stadium 974
It can hold up to 40,000 fans and is situated in Ras Bu Abboud, 10km east of central Doha. The venue will host five group games and one Round of 16 match in the competition.
