Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo brutally snubbed Gary Neville, a legend at United in his own right, just ahead of Man United’s clash with West Ham United started. Neville was a teammate of Ronaldo so this was even more jarring to anyone watching.
Gary Neville was one of those who criticised Ronaldo and even said Manchester United should end their relationship with the global superstar.
It seems Ronaldo had heard those comments and he didn’t appreciate that at all.
Cristiano Ronaldo got a start in the all important tie with West Ham United and when he saw the crew of Sky Sports, he was the one who came to say ”hello”.
He was first to approach former teammate Louis Saha and gave him a warm hug. After that, Ronaldo approached ex Liverpool and Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp and said ”hello”.
What was notable was he did not even acknowledge the third person present there – one Mr Gary Neville.
Ronaldo simply walked away, as if Neville was not even present.
Gary Neville has been taking shots at the Manchester United legend for some time now as the former right back has made his thoughts clear on the topic of whether Manchester United should keep Ronaldo.
This is what Neville said on Sky after Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute in the match against Tottenham Hotspur, “For me, Erik ten Hag had no other option. That’s the second time Ronaldo has left Old Trafford before his team-mates have got into the changing room. That is unacceptable.
“When you look at whether Ronaldo should be selected, which is obviously Ronaldo’s main problem at this moment in time – that he’s not playing – as great a player as he’s been, Manchester United are better without him.
“Erik ten Hag knows that, so I think the only thing the club and Ronaldo can do is get together in this next week or so and end the relationship. Cristiano is too good a player, too fantastic a character and the club have got to move on.
“Ronaldo can’t accept not being the star man in Manchester United’s team so he’s going to have to leave – that’s it.”
Ronaldo seems not to have taken the comments too kindly.
