Rangers clashed heads with Liverpool at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to cause an upset on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Glaswegian giants made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold scored with a brilliant freekick. However, Rangers recovered well and managed to get into the half-time interval just 1-0 down on the scoreline.

Leon King conceded a cheap penalty early in the second half which Mohamed Salah scored to put Liverpool 2-0 up in the 53rd minute. The Scottish outfit grew in confidence in the latter stages of the game but failed to find the back of the net. The contest finished with Rangers suffering a lackluster 2-0 defeat away at Merseyside.

Let’s take a look at how each Rangers player fared during the match against the Reds.

GK: Allan McGregor – 8/10

The Scottish keeper made a lot of impressive saves to keep Rangers in the game. However, he couldn’t do anything about either of Liverpool’s goals tonight.

RB: James Tavernier – 6/10

He gave a good account of himself on the defensive third of the field but lacked quality in the opponent’s half.

CB: Leon King – 6/10

The young defender conceded a cheap penalty early in the second half. Otherwise, he was solid throughout the game.

CB: Connor Goldson – 7/10

The 29-year-old used his experience well to clear the danger when needed and didn’t shy away from making a tackle.

CB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10

LB: Borna Barisic – 6/10

Barisic tracked back to defend when needed and made one key chance in the final third.

RM: Malik Tillman – 6/10

He did his fair share of defending but failed to pose a threat going forward.

CM: Steven Davis – 6/10

The English midfielder tried his best to protect his backline and made one decent run with the ball.

CM: John Lundstram – 6.5/10

Lundstram anchored the midfield really well but offered very little in the Liverpool half.

LM: Ryan Kent – 6.5/10

Kent completed some energetic dribbles against his old club but hardly got a sniff at goal.

ST: Alfredo Morelos – 6/10

The talented striker made some crucial defensive contributions but had a quiet game in the final third.

ST: Fashion Sakala – 6/10

He had a couple of shot attempts but failed to register a goal.

Jack brought some calmness to the Rangers’ midfield.

ST: Antonio-Mirko Čolak – 6/10

He had a couple of lively moments after coming off the bench.

RW: Rabbi Matondo – N/A

Matondo didn’t get enough time to warrant a rating.

He earned the ball back twice after coming on as a substitute.
