Newcastle United welcomed Aston Villa at St. James’ Park earlier this afternoon as they focus on collecting maximum points at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a strong start to the game and got their noses ahead in the first half injury-time courtesy of Callum Wilson’s penalty. Eddie Howe’s men were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The Tyneside outfit made an excellent start to the second 45 minutes and doubled their advantage in the 56th minute via Wilson’s header. Joelinton killed the game off just three minutes later when he got his name on the scoresheet. Miguel Almiron put the icing on the cake when he added another goal in the 67th minute with a superb strike as Newcastle earned a 4-0 victory in front of their home fans.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against the Villans.

CB: Fabian Schar – 7/10

He didn’t do much wrong at the back and engineered one good chance in the opponent’s half.

CB: Sven Botman – 7/10

Botman gave a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch and will be quite pleased with the clean sheet.
