Newcastle United will face Aston Villa this Saturday as they look to continue their unbeaten run in this home encounter. The Magpies will come into the match on the back of a splendid 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, so they will be looking to produce a similar result in this weekend’s clash.

Eddie Howe will probably stick to the 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few changes for this game. Chris Wood could lead the charge against the Villans while Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser provide support from the wide areas.

Defence

Nick Pope will continue to operate in between the sticks for the Magpies after conceding a goal in his last outing. Fabian Schar will feature alongside Sven Botman at the heart of Newcastle’s defence hoping to give a strong performance.

Dan Burn will fill in at left-back while Kieran Trippier puts in a tireless shift at the other flank as the right-back. Both of them will be eager to impress as they stretch the opposition in the final third and keep their shape defensively.

Jamaal Lascelles will offer cover for the defensive spots on Howe’s bench. However, Emil Krafth is unlikely to be available for this fixture as he’s still recovering from his knee injury.

Midfield

Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will continue in the centre of the park for this home encounter. All three of them would have to work hard collectively in establishing their dominance over the opposition in the midfield.

Joelinton could come on to make an impact in the second half should Howe decide to call upon his services.

Attack

Ryan Fraser would be eager to impress on the left flank while Miguel Almiron hopes to put in a productive display from the right wing.

As mentioned earlier, Chris Wood will get the responsibility to spearhead Newcastle’s attack down the middle. The New Zealand international has not been productive in front of the goal, so he will be desperate to get his name on the scoresheet against the Villans.

Callum Wilson will be available for selection on the bench but might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
