Manchester City entertained Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium earlier today as they looked to earn all three points at home. Pep Guardiola’s men made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 22nd minute courtesy of Erling Haaland’s goal. The Norwegian striker doubled Man City’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute as the Mancunian giants went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.

Leandro Trossard pulled a goal back for the Eagles in the 53rd minute but Kevin De Bruyne made the points secure for Man City in the 75th minute when he found the back of the net. The contest ended with Guardiola’s side earning a comfortable 3-1 win in front of their home fans.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the match against the Seagulls.

GK: Ederson – 6/10

The Brazilian keeper made one good save in the game but will be disappointed for not keeping a clean sheet today. However, he has got an assist to show for his efforts.

RB: Manuel Akanji – 6.5/10

He earned the ball back a few times and made one good run with the ball.

CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10

Dias cleared the danger when needed and was accurate with his passing.

CB: Aymeric Laporte – 6.5/10

The Spanish talent didn’t do much wrong at the back but won’t be happy about conceding an early goal in the second half.

LB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10

Cancelo was solid at the back but lacked quality in the final third.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 8/10

The Belgian talent caused a lot of problems for the Brighton defenders and managed to put the match to bed by scoring in the 75th minute.

CM: Rodri – 6.5/10

He anchored the midfield with conviction but offered very little going forward.

CM: Bernardo Silva – 7.5/10

Silva was full of energy and running at the centre of the park and ended the game with an assist to his name.

LW: Jack Grealish – 6.5/10

The English talent hardly gave away the ball but struggled to influence the game in the final third.

ST: Erling Haaland – 8/10

Haaland was a real menace on the attacking end of the field and has got two goals to his name today.

RW: Riyad Mahrez – 6.5/10

He caused a few headaches for the Brighton defenders but didn’t do enough to register a goal.

Substitutes:

LW: Phil Foden – 6/10

He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game.

CM: Cole Palmer – 6/10

Palmer added some energy to Guardiola’s midfield.

ST: Julian Alvarez – 6/10

His impact on the game was minimal.
