Liverpool will face Ajax as they make their trip to the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday night in the Champions League group A match-up. The Reds come into the match on the back of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest in the Premier League whereas the hosts recorded an emphatic 4-1 win over RKC Waalwijk.

The Nederlands outfit will need to grab a win in order to remain in the Champions League; meanwhile, the visitors could successfully qualify for the knockouts if they produce a better result.

Liverpool Vs Ajax: Talking Tactics

Jurgen Klopp will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to the starting XI for this game. Thiago Alcantara will return to the match-day squad and take his place in the midfield whereas Darwin Nunez could recover in time for the away encounter to become a part of Liverpool’s attack.

Team News

Liverpool

Liverpool will remain without the services of Luis Diaz (knee) and Diogo Jota (calf) as both of them have been ruled out until after the FIFA World Cup. Klopp has still got a few injuries to cope with as Arthur Melo still remains in the treatment room after his surgery. To add to the problems, Joel Matip picked up a calf problem in his last outing which could keep him sidelined for a few weeks. However, Ibrahima Konate could recover in time for the clash against Ajax.

Liverpool Predicted XI

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Thiago; Elliott, Firmino, Nunez; Salah

Ajax

As for the hosts, they will be without youngsters Ahmetcan Kaplan, Devyne Rensch and Mohamed Ihattaren due to injuries, while midfielder Kenneth Taylor remains doubtful due to a muscle strain. Apart from this, Schreuder has a fully fit team at his disposal for the home encounter.

Ajax Predicted XI

Pasveer; Sanchez, Timber, Bassey, Blind; Klaassen, Alvarez, Berghuis; Tadic, Kudus, Bergwijn
