Liverpool welcomed Rangers at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to earn a good result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds made a quick start to the game and scored the opening goal in the seventh minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold found the back of the net with a brilliant free-kick. The home team controlled the game well and went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s second goal from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute. Jurgen Klopp’s men sat on their lead well and earned an impressive 2-0 win in front of the Kop.

The Brazilian keeper made a couple of decent stops during the game and secured a rare clean sheet at home.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8.5/10
The English full-back performed his defensive duties well and deserves credit for scoring the opener with a superb free-kick. He was the man of the match for Liverpool tonight.
CB: Joel Matip – 7/10
Matip was strong in the air and did enough work defensively to restrict the visitors from scoring.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 7/10
The Dutch defender passed the ball well and would be quite pleased with the clean sheet tonight.
LB: Kostas Tsimikas – 8/10
The Greek full-back was always willing to get forward and deliver some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty box. He made a brilliant goal-line clearance late in the game to keep Liverpool’s clean sheet intact.
CM: Jordan Henderson – 7/10
The Liverpool captain controlled the game well from midfield and produced a solid display during his time on the field.
CM: Thiago Alcantara – 7/10
The Spaniard passed the ball with conviction as usual and was in complete cruise control for most of the contest.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 7/10
Salah was always willing to take on his marker and stepped up to score the crucial penalty which gave the Reds some cushion in the second half.
CAM: Diogo Jota – 7/10
The Portugal international was quite clever with his movements and went close to scoring but was denied by a world-class save from Allan McGregor.
LW: Luis Diaz – 7/10
Diaz began the game well and completed some dangerous dribbles in the final third. He earned the penalty which Salah scored to put Liverpool 2-0 up on the night.
ST: Darwin Nunez – 6.5/10
He made some decent runs in behind the Rangers backline but failed to finish off any of his chances.

The Brazilian linked up play well with others around him.

He added some bite and steel to Klopp’s midfield.
