Aston Villa entertained Burnley at Villa Park earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a good result at home. The Villans were dominant in the first half but conceded the opening goal in the 45th minute when Ashley Barnes scored from the penalty spot. The West Midlands side were trailing 1-0 at the half-time break.

Emiliano Buendia made up for giving away a penalty by equalising for the Villans with a quality finish in the 48th minute. The two sides could not be separated at full-time as the match ended with a 1-1 scoreline.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the clash against the Clarets.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6.5/10

The Argentine keeper made a few decent saves during the game but won’t be pleased after failing to keep a clean sheet.

RB: Matty Cash – 6.5/10

Cash didn’t do much defending but was a constant threat in the final third.

CB: Calum Chambers – 7/10

Chambers got stuck with some solid tackles and made two key chances going forward.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 7/10

The English defender was a strong presence in the air and made a lot of important clearances at the back.

LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10

Digne was solid when defending inside his half and made some key chances in the final third.

CM: Emiliano Buendia – 7.5/10

He caused a lot of problems for the opposition because of his creativity. He popped up and scored the all-important equaliser for Aston Villa early in the second half.

CM: Douglas Luiz – 7/10

The Brazilian midfield ace protected his backline well and created some meaningful openings for his teammates in the opposition half.

CM: Jacob Ramsey – 6.5/10

He made a few solid tackles but offered very little in the final third.

RAM: John McGinn – 8/10

McGinn caused all kinds of headaches for the Burnley defenders but didn’t do enough to find the back of the net.

LAM: Calum Chukwuemeka – 6/10

He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game and could last only 56 minutes.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 6.5/10

Watkins worked hard as usual but there was no goal for him tonight.

RAM: Bertrand Traore – 6.5/10

He caused a few problems for the opposition.

CAM: Philippe Coutinho – 6/10

The Brazilian failed to get his name on the scoresheet.

He had a few shots at goal but failed to beat Nick Pope.
